- Tips & Tricks in Blood Multiplayer -
For Beginners!

It's no secret that I've started my venture to Blood Multiplayer as early as late 2011, over the years I've went from barely killing my opponents to becoming very skilled. However I have seen some newcomers say that I am too good at this game, so I wanted to write this page. Keep in mind that this is not entirely a requirement to better your Bloodbath skills, but it has helped me and I felt like passing it along for those interested in trying as well.

1. Weapon Binds are your best friend!

In a majority of FPS games, (especially Arena FPS) it is important that you take the time to adjust to binding weapons and some inventory to somewhere around where your movement keys are at.

I use WASD for my movement, Be sure to fire up a bloodbath map in NBlood by going to the console and typing "map bb3" or use the SETUP.EXE program (for DOS users) to start changing controls.

Now keep in mind you might need to either delete the key off of functions you either need somewhere else or don't need at all. Or perhaps delete all the binds and start fresh.

2. Make use of crouching in mid-air

Crouching in Blood makes you hard to hit as I've seen my brother taking advantage of that many years ago. But keep in mind you can crouch in mid-air. Thus allowing you to dodge attacks it bit more effectively.

It's also good for shotgun blasting your opponents into the air as you are about to finish your opponent.

3. Make use of your inventory!

In certain situations, utilzing your inventory items can help you alot. The Medkit is a prime example of this. On the MS-DOS release, (because this was the only way of playing multiplayer at the time between 2011 to 2016) I bound the Medkit to activate on mouse movement. You can change that in the SETUP.EXE program.

Controller Setup -> Setup Advanced Control Options -> Advanced Mouse Setup -> Digital Setup

Right there in the Digital Setup, you bind all the Mouse motions to MedKit.

However this was removed in recent versions of NBlood, So what I did was bind it my side mouse buttons or mouse wheel.

Also another inventory item you can take advantage of is the JumpBoots if the map has one. This allows you to have the high ground if used often. The best BloodBath levels to practice this is DM3 - Area 15, and E1M7 - Altar of Stone. However this brings in the next advice.

4. Knowing the map + Map Control!

This applies to a majority of First-Person Shooters next to having good aim. Most items have a certain amount of time before it respawns. The important items a player would need to hog are the following : Life Seed (Health Powerup), Super Armor, Medkits, Jumpboot (if the Level has one) and obviously weapons and ammo if you haven't had some yet.

The reason why learning a map is recommended is you can take advantage of it by hogging most of the items from your opponent. This is called Map Control.

The perfect way to learn this is BB3 - Bodies. As you see in the Napalm Launcher room, there is the Super Armor in the ground and a Life Seed in the higher ground. A faster way to control those items would be to Napalm Jump after you have the Super Armor picked up.

5. Shotgun Reload Cancel

A bit of a interesting thing I randomly started doing. But if you have your weapon binds right, you can cancel the reloading sequence of the Sawed Up Shotgun by firing and then quickly switching to another weapon. I do this when switching from Shotgun to Napalm Launcher.

5b. Utilize the alt-fire of Flaregun and Tesla Cannon

The Flaregun's primary fire isn't as effective in BloodBath as it is in Singleplayer/Cooperative. But the alternative fire sure is!

While it takes more ammo, it creates a explosion that sets your opponents on fire.

The Tesla Cannon's alternative fire is also effective as it charges and fires a massive ball of energy. It also works well on the floor where your opponent is at.

6. Treat Voodoo Doll's Alt Fire like a hitscan BFG9000

Weird I know, but what it does is you wave your hand around the doll and using all it's power at the target, thus killing the target. If you compare it to the BFG9000's tracers, You could see why I call it a hitscan BFG9000.

For those who don't know, in a case of a Doom II Deathmatch, A player fires the BFG9000 which fires a big green plasma ball but if it hits a wall surrounding the player's target it fires tracers that does damage to the target.

If you want to get in on the action, you can play this on NukemNet or if you want to play the MS-DOS release you can do that on NukemNet or on Classic Gaming Arena.
